Spend a relaxed day with us away from the bustling city and discover Cava & Chocolate - a local tradition. We will visit picturesque Sant Sadurni just 45 minutes outside of Barcelona in the famous Penedès wine region. This quiet market town is not only home of the best Catalan chocolate maker but also the center of Cava production - the local sparkling wine made according to the same method and quality as French Champagne.
At your hotel or by Plaça Catalunya (Corner of the Apple Store)
I'll meet you at the designated place.
We will take the train to Sant Sadurni, the most sustainable means of transportation. Trains in Catalunya are frequent, clean and safe.
When arriving at the train station we are greeted by the smell of freshly roasted cocoa beans. You will immediately spot the beautiful headquarter of one of the world's most famous cava makers. Let's have a welcoming drink on their patio!
A short walk will lead us to the chocolate factory with a tradition of 175 years. Here we will enjoy a unique experience for all five senses. Not only will we learn about cocoa, chocolate’s history and culture but also taste their different specialties.
The restaurant serves a high quality 3-course menu with Catalan dishes. Half a bottle of wine/cava per person is included as well as water. We will walk you through the menu and explain all the delights!
After a stroll through the village's narrow streets we arrive to an artisan Cava maker. With a history spanning more than 150 years this small scale, family run winery focuses on crafting premium quality, organic Cava. Descending into the cellars where the bottles are resting we will explain the history and methods used to create high quality sparkling wine. Upstairs we will have the chance to observe the disgorging and labelling process. We finish this experience in the leafy courtyard where we will take our time to enjoy various vintages while learning more about the different types of Cava.

This was the third and final tour we booked with Christian and I think it was my favorite. He took us through some quiet streets and pointed out little tapas places along the way that he recommended. We almost felt like locals by the time the tour ended. Christian is an excellent guide and we would do it all again!
THANK YOU, Sue, for having spent 1.5 days with me and that I could share my passion for this beautiful city with you during our time together. Glad you also enjoyed our third tour about the history of Barcelona covering 2000 years! All the best for you and Mike! Christian
What a great morning spending time with Christian at some of Gaudi's buildings. Christian gave us so much insight into the design and meaning of the buildings that make them so much more interesting. He also highlighted buildings created by some other architects that were even more beautiful than some of Gaudi's. We ended up at the concert hall where we had a fantastic lunch.
Thank you, Sue! Glad you enjoyed the mix of sites that we visited and all the fascinating stories connected to them. All the best, Christian
Christian is an amazing guide! He thoroughly knows about the areas he took us to and makes it so interesting. It was our first day in Barcelona after a cruise and we saw so many interesting things and learned so much about the 1929 World's fair and the 1992 Olympics.
Thank you so much, Sue! It was a great pleasure sharing my passion with you for this part of the city that many guests miss! Glad you enjoyed the time! All the best, Christian
