The name Hanuman Dhoka Durbar square came from the statue of Hanuman (the monkey devotee of Lord Ram). Built by King Pratap Malla in 1672 A.D. Four storeyed home King Prithvi Narayan Shah used to work in 1770, is Basantapur Durbar(palace).
