Why not visit the old villages with A-shaped houses by World Heritage Bus and get relaxed in the rustic mood of those villages? Those villages were developed in Edo period (during 17-19 century) and registered as one of UNESCO's World Heritage sites in 1995.

-You can travel to A-shaped (gassho-style) house village by World Heritage Bus operated between Shirakawago and Takaoka.
-You will have a great opportunity to get relaxed in rustic mood of those villages,
and find a charming doll known as sarubobo (monkey baby doll)
as well as small paper craft items made from traditional Japanese paper (washi) at souvenir shops in those villages.
-You can have opportunity to eat local specialties such as Hida-gyu beef, Tofu, soba noodles and skewered & charcoal-grilled river fish (iwana).

* Doburoku-Festival Museum is only open from April to November.
* If you think to visit those villages in winter, it is advisable to be dressed warmly.
* This tour is not beneficial for travelers only to visit only Shirakawago. If you are such a traveler, other tour can be recommended.
